Friday morning features keynote speaker David Chou, Vice President/Chief Information & Digital Officer for Children’s Mercy Kansas City, speaking about the new breed of CIO. Saturday will open with a “Blockchain Primer” followed by a breakout session and dive into the CHIEF Perspective on the Digital Health Ecosystem. We look forward to hearing from our CHIEFs on the interesting work they have done in this area.
Keynote: The Next Breed of CIO with David Chou, Vice President/Chief Information & Digital Officer for Children’s Mercy Kansas City
Learn the CIO’s perspective on transforming themselves in order to be successful in the digital area. In this presentation David Chou will share insights and lessons learned on how CIOs can transform their strategy in order to take the lead on digital initiatives.
Children’s Mercy is the only free-standing children’s hospital between St. Louis and Denver and provide comprehensive care for patients from birth to 21. They are consistently ranked among the leading children’s hospitals in the nation and were the first hospital in Missouri or Kansas to earn the prestigious Magnet designation for excellence in patient care from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Prior to Children’s Mercy David held the CIO position at University of Mississippi Medical Center, the state’s only academic health science center. David also served as senior director of IT operations at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi and CIO at AHMC Healthcare in California. His work has been recognized by several publications, and he has been interviewed by a number of media outlets. David is also one of the most mentioned CIOs on social media, and is an active member of both CHIME and HIMSS.

A CHIEF Symposium is held in the spring and fall of each year. Prior to meeting, working groups form around specific topics of interest to CHIEF. Members with the goal of presenting their findings to Symposium attendees and potentially producing a white paper or report. CHIEF’s vitality is rooted in an engaged and active membership. Member attendance at CHIEF Symposia coupled with a willingness to contribute to working groups, discussions, presentations, and publications is strongly encouraged. Symposia are for CHIEF Members only.
